Using ELECTRE and MACBETH MCDA methods in an industrial performance improvement context
Abstract
According to the control loop principle, the so-called performance expressions identify the objective satisfaction, reflecting thus the impact of the launched improvement actions on the objective achievement. In a multicriteria performance and action context, the selection of the right action to launch is a cumbersome task. Industrial decision-makers require, thus, pieces of information about the satisfaction of the fixed objectives on the one hand and the potential actions to launch on the other hand. In this sense, they carry out more or less formal decision mechanism using their knowledge. In this study some reflexions concerning the relevance of the use of the MDCA methods for the selection of the action plans with regard to the performances are proposed. More precisely, the widely used ELECTRE and MACBETH methods are considered. These approaches are analysed, as they deal with human knowledge, in the particular case of an industrial improvement process, handled by the Fournier Company. Practical considerations are then highlighted by the application of these methods, in the kitchen and bathroom furniture manufacturing area.
